How to Prepare for a Local Move

Choose a reliable mover. Of course, we believe it should be Eldredge and Bourne.

ELIMINATE
- If you don’t use it, don’t pay us to move it.
ORGANIZE
- If you pack yourself have all boxes sealed and labeled before the movers arrive.
- Have any items that are not to be moved clearly marked.
- Set up a closet for your purse, checkbook, medicines, and overnight bag (if necessary) and put a “do not touch” sign on door.
Arrange to have any pet(s) kept safely out of the way of the movers.
Arrange for mail forwarding with Post Office.
Create a room plan for your new home. Time is money and you do not want to be paying for two movers to hold a sofa while you figure out where to place it.
You can leave clothing in bureau drawers. However, small items such as jewelry should be removed. In fact we believe that sort of thing should be moved by you.
